Water Bottle Holders
The idea for designing a water bottle holder came from a water bottle holder my parents brought me back from Machu Pichu, Peru. It was the first time I had ever seen one and I thought it was an ingenious invention. Imagine the ease and convenience of having your water bottle everywhere you go without worrying about it getting in the way. Plus, it adds an incentive for taking a reusable bottle with you instead of purchasing a disposable one while out. So naturally, I thought the world needed more of these. Thus, the journey to design and make my own began (see details below).

The Idea:
The water bottle holder from Machu Pichu was a simple one with a short woven body with a design made of threads that were exposed on the inside. It had a crossed nylon strap base and a nylon shoulder strap. It works great, but I wanted to design something with a taller body to prevent the bottle from falling out and something a bit more sturdy. I also wanted multiple sizes to be possible.
The Process:
So, I measured my water bottle and designed a new holder based on those dimensions. I started with a rectangular body, with two layers, roughly 3/4” as tall as my water bottle and with a slightly larger circumference. I made fabric straps for the base matching the nylon ones on the original and measured a nylon strap to match an existing cross-body purse.
